Koast's Snowboarding 2010 launch is happening! It's at Saatchi & Saatchi Gallery at the Rocks, in Sydney. There are lots of great people involved in this so I'm pretty happy to be part of it. And my drawing I did on A4 size is gonna be on a 1700mm long snowboard. It's gonna look crazy. Plus I'm putting in four other pictures for the show. Can't wait. :)
Found some drawings going though my old sketchbooks. I remember being very excited while doing these then somehow must've forgotten about them. Happens.
In other news, Koast are having a launch party at Saatchi & Saatchi here in Sydney. It should be awesome. I'll post the details as soon as I get hold of it. So stay tuned.
Just discovered this dude, JUAN FRANCISCO CASAS, a Spanish artist who does some killer giant ballpoint pen drawings.
These are kind of like Robert Longo's 80s drawings of jumping men and women in suits, titled 'Men in the Cities', they're all photorealistic as hell, and as big and as ambitious anyway. (YBA Sam Taylor Wood later did photo self-portraits 'suspended', which is kind of relevant to both, cos she is semi naked, and frozen mid-air, and she is as ambitious as well, haha, she did a video of David Beckham sleeping (a-la Warhol) which goes for 67 minutes). Apparently now Longo's into drawing cleavages, which is awesome. I never knew this, but I also found out that Longo directed Johnny Mnemonic, that movie with Keanu Reeves where he plays Neo waaay before The Matrix.
And here's a video that was clearly inspired by Longo's Men in the Cities:
For some time now I can't get over Psycroptic's (Ob)Servant album. It's technical death metal at its best. The drums! The guitars! Here's a video of them killing it live.
I just got back from traveling back to Mongolia for a month. I've managed to squeeze in as much as it is possible into short 4 weeks, and got married (again to Eggie), traveled through Arkhangai for a jam packed 4 days, gave a seminar at Xanadu Art Gallery in UB, established many professional links, and met many local visual artists, musicians and tattoo artists. saw live bands at the Playtime Festival in UB, which my best friend Uugii hosts.
i'll upload some photos as soon as i sort them out. there's over 10 gigs of files i need to go through.
